How do I save an image on my computer using my digital camera?
Digital cameras automatically save images as JPG (or JPEG) or GIF files. Just download the desired images from your camera to your computer
desktop or a folder where you can find it later.
Tips:
Folder and image file names on your computer might look something like C:\Desktop\Pictures\sofa.jpg, C:\Desktop\sofa.jpg or
C:\MyDocuments\MyPictures\sofa.jpg
Save your images with names that are meaningful so you can easily identify them later. Keep the names short and free of symbols and spaces.
Examples would be: sofa.jpg, table.jpg, etc
How big should my images be?
We prefer that you keep your images under 75kbs [kilobytes] or 640 x 480 pixels [a pixel is the unit of measure of your computer screen. It's
one of the millions of tiny dots that make up your computer's monitor and your TV's screen]. If your image upload exceeds 75kbs and or 640 x
480 pixels in either height or width, we will reduce the image size automatically but loss in image quality can result.
Tips:
Most digital cameras allow you to pre-select image size. Typical sizes are: 640 x 480 & 1600 x 1200. Set your camera to 640 x 480.
How do I save an image on my computer using a non-digital camera?
Take a picture with a regular camera. When you get the film developed, request that the images be saved on disk or published directly online.
Whether you use a disk or online publishing, choose the images you want to use and save them as described above.
You can also scan your standard 3" x 5" or 4" x 6" paper prints using a scanner to get a digital image. If you do not
have a scanner, you can bring your pictures to a copy service center where they will scan them onto a disk. Be sure to save your images from
the disk to as described above.
